Day 1 Travel to Grand Teton National Park & Hike Yellowstone’s Mammoth Hot Springs

Meet your MT Sobek guides and fellow adventurers in Jackson, WY this morning and head for Grand Teton National Park. Stop at historic Mormon Row for an iconic view—and photo op—of the iconic Moulton Barn with the jagged skyline of the Tetons beyond. From there, continue through the South Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Stretch your legs at West Thumb Geyser Basin, where a boardwalk loop winds past bubbling hot springs and colorful pools at the edge of immense Yellowstone Lake. In the afternoon, journey to Mammoth Hot Springs to explore its otherworldly Lower and Upper Terraces, sculpted over thousands of years into cascading steps of white, gold, and rust-colored travertine. Cap off your first day with dinner at a local favorite restaurant in nearby Gardiner.

Day 2 Spot Lamar Valley Wildlife & Summit Mount Washburn

Rise early for one of the most thrilling days of the trip! In Yellowstone's Lamar Valley, often called "America's Serengeti," scan the grasslands for herds of roaming bison roam the open grasslands and elk, pronghorn, grizzly bears, or even wolves moving through the early light. Then it's time to lace up your boots and take on the trip's most challenging hike. Climb the Dunraven Pass Trail to the summit of Mount Washburn, delivering rewarding views over the Yellowstone Caldera, Absaroka Range, and, on a clear day, the Tetons. After lunch on the trail, descend and continue the adventure, stopping for a short walk to 132-foot Tower Falls. Finish the day with a look at the Petrified Tree before returning to Mammoth for the evening.

Day 3 Hike Grand Prismatic Overlook Trail & See Old Faithful
6-8 total hours/1-6.5 miles hiking (multiple trails) with 357' of elevation gain and loss
Today is action-packed with Yellowstone's famed geothermal activity. Begin at Fountain Paint Pots in the Lower Geyser Basin, where a short boardwalk loop packs all four types of the park's thermal features—geysers, hot springs, mud pots, and fumaroles—into a single walk. Then at Midway Geyser Basin, climb the iconic Grand Prismatic Overlook Trail for a spectacular bird's-eye view of the park's largest hot spring with its brilliant bands of blue, green, yellow, and orange—and the option to hike on to Fairy Falls. This afternoon, explore the Upper Geyser Basin on foot, home to the largest concentration of geysers on Earth. Hike a loop trail, that threads past Morning Glory Pool, Riverside Geyser, and Castle Geyser before delivering you to a front-row seat for Old Faithful's eruption.

Day 4 Follow the Wapiti Trail to Spectacular Artist Point

Set out through Hayden Valley this morning, watching for bison, elk, and other wildlife across its broad meadows. Stop at the aptly named Dragon's Mouth Spring, where a cavern belches steam and water with a gurgling growl. Then hit the Wapiti Trail and hike over rolling terrain to beautiful Clear Lake and Ribbon Lake before reaching the dramatic rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Reach the trail's grand finale at Artist Point, one of the most celebrated vistas in the entire National Park System. See Yellowstone's Lower Falls thunder into the canyon below in a wash of golden and russet stone. Continue exploring the trail system this afternoon before returning to Old Faithful for a well-earned evening at the lodge.

Day 5 Climb Elephant Back Mountain & Return to Jackson

Begin your final full day on the trail with an invigorating climb up Elephant Back Mountain. The lollipop loop winds steadily through lodgepole pine forest before reaching a high ridge offering panoramic views of Yellowstone Lake, with blue water stretching toward distant peaks. Descend and refuel with lunch before beginning the scenic journey south toward Jackson. Along the way, stop at the National Museum of Wildlife Art, overlooking the National Elk Refuge, where indoor galleries and an outdoor Sculpture Trail celebrate the animals and landscapes of the American West. Continue into Jackson and your hotel in the heart of town. Tonight, enjoy your final evening together with your group and guides.

Day 6 Float Down Grand Teton’s Snake River & Depart

Finish your adventure on the water with a scenic float in Grand Teton National Park. After breakfast, head to the Snake River and climb aboard your raft for a relaxed journey beneath one of the West's most dramatic mountain skylines. Drift along the water as the South, Middle, and Grand Tetons rise above the valley, with massive Mount Moran dominating the northern horizon. Between mountain views, watch the riverbanks and cottonwood forests for bald eagles, moose, beavers, and other wildlife. Enjoy this slow pace after your days of hiking through Yellowstone's wildest landscapes. Return to Jackson where your Yellowstone and Grand Teton adventure comes to an end.
