Dan grew up in Essex, England, where he met his wife, Laura (who will join you for your meal if she is home). Dan studied accounting in university but realized before graduation his passion for cooking and has spent his life since working in restaurants and catering. Dan first developed his love for food when he was young, watching his mother cook and going in and out of the pub that his grandparents owned. He works now at a local restaurant near his home, and is passionate about cooking traditional British food and teaching travelers some of the British classics he grew up with to help people learn about and fall in love with the food he is so passionate about. Join Dan in his modern apartment in the Vauxhall neighborhood near the South Bank for a three-course, gourmet meal featuring of some of Dan's favorite British classics. Dan has professionally trained in restaurant kitchens and his beautifully-prepared dishes show this; you might enjoy a "deconstructed" salad of seasonal vegetables, followed by a classic dish like beef Wellington, fish and chips, or, if it's a Sunday, a classic Sunday roast with Yorkshire pudding. For dessert you might enjoy the delicious British classic Eton mess (broken meringue served with whipped cream and seasonal fruit), or a chocolate and salted caramel delice with Maldon salt and ice cream. If you book a cooking experience, you will learn to cook two dishes together with Dan in his small but modern apartment. You will learn to cook a British classic like fish and chips or beef Wellington, in addition to a starter or dessert. Your lesson will be a hands-on demonstration; depending on the complexity of the dish and length of cooking Dan might prepare a few of the components in advance. When you're done sit down together to enjoy your three-course meal. Dan also offers a market tour of London's iconic Borough Market. If you book this optional add-on, you will meet at Borough Market for a tour stopping at a few of Dan’s favorite stalls (including his favorite spice shop, in case you want to buy a few delicious souvenirs to bring home!). Pick up some of the ingredients for your meal and return back to Dan’s apartment, a 25-minute walk or a 5-10 minute cab ride away, before your meal together.
